A national examination programme called the Australian Calisthenic Federation (ACF) Callisthenic Skills Programme is run by each State/Territory Association.

The initial introduction of the examination system took place in 1979 with the goals of raising the calisthenics level and standardising vocabulary and practise across Australia. Various levels have gradually evolved into requirements for Solo and Graceful Competitions as well as Coach Accreditation in an effort to standardise competency across Australia.

The system is divided into three categories: tests, grades, and medals. A systematic development through the different components that make up the callisthenics foundation may be seen within these categories.  The Test and Grade exams focus on technical detail, presentation, and terminology knowledge and are based on a predetermined syllabus and music audio. Performance and choreography are also taken into account in the Medals section.
